On March 3, during Aquaculture 2010 in San Diego, more than 50 people sat down for a simple meal of fish, rice, bread, a vegetable and water during an event called “An Evening for the World’s Poor”.

Nandeesha spoke about the goals and impact of the work of this NGO in teaching rural poor in developing countries to grow fish in small-scale aquaculture for family food and income. This introduction was followed by video clips from three of AwF’s projects – AwF-Bishramganj (Tripura, India), AwF-Toleo Foundation (Sunderbans, India) and AwF-Nepal – and statements of support from representatives of some of the major sponsors.

AwF Director raises funds in Northern Ireland

Category:Updates

Many thanks to AwF (UK) Director Scott Peddie for raising funds (nearly £195) for us in a fun event last month. Such events not only enhance our income but help to publicise our work in developing countries (in this case amongst children too). A scanned copy of a report in the Antrim Times is provided here.

Scott tells us that he is planning more activities in aid of AwF. Many thanks to him for his initiatives.

Four reports from our field projects received this month

Category:Updates

Four reports from our field projects have been received this month (thanks to AwF Director M.C. Nandeesha). They can be viewed on the Projects page of this website. Two are from Bangladesh (AwF-Caritas and AwF-RDRS) and two from India (AwF-Bishramganj Phase 3 and AwF-Toleo Foundation).

We are delighted that these projects are going well and glad that we have supported them. Our sincere thanks go to our individual AwFdonors and to the ToleoFoundation for their financial support, which made our work in these projects possible.

We are always interested in new proposals for small projects for consideration by our Technical Advisory Group, which is chaired by AwF Director Geoff Allan. Details of the procedure for writing and submitting proposals can be found on the Proposals page of this website. The type of projects we consider can be judged from the nature of our current projects and from reading our About Us-Background page.
