AwF announces the launch of its redesigned website

Category:News Releases

Aquaculture without Frontiers (AwF) is pleased to announce the launch of its completely redesigned website.

This fulfills the commitment to raise the profile of AwF and improve fundraising activities that Dr Barry Costa-Pierce and Dr. Mudnakudu Nandeesha, international co-chairs, made at the AwF Board of Directors meeting 26 September 2009 during the World Aquaculture Society conference in Veracruz, Mexico. The AwF Board of Directors hopes visitors will find the new website informative and that it provides a clear and comprehensive view of our work to date.

Using the WordPress blogging platform will enable Directors to post information from anywhere in the world through a web-based interface, eliminating the barriers of distance and time, and the access bottleneck of relying on the webmaster.

The website redesign and development was undertaken by The Aquaculture Communications Group (ACG), led by Dave Conley and Tor-Eddie Fossbakk, who voluntarily contributed their time and expertise to bring this project to completion. The Board of Directors thanks them for their generous contribution.

Together we can achieve wonderful things

Category:Updates

AwF is undertaking a number of initiatives to make itself better known to the glogal aquaculture community and to the public at large.

To the right is an advertisement that appeared in the March 2010 issue of World Aquaculture, published quarterly by the World Aquaculture Society (WAS). The ad space was donated by WAS, which is very much appreciated as all funding received is targeted to development projects.

If your organization has a publication, please considering running one of our ads in it because “Together we can achieve wonderful things.”

AwF Director raises funds in Northern Ireland

Category:Updates

Many thanks to AwF (UK) Director Scott Peddie for raising funds (nearly £195) for us in a fun event last month. Such events not only enhance our income but help to publicise our work in developing countries (in this case amongst children too). A scanned copy of a report in the Antrim Times is provided here.

Scott tells us that he is planning more activities in aid of AwF. Many thanks to him for his initiatives.

Four reports from our field projects received this month

Category:Updates

Four reports from our field projects have been received this month (thanks to AwF Director M.C. Nandeesha). They can be viewed on the Projects page of this website. Two are from Bangladesh (AwF-Caritas and AwF-RDRS) and two from India (AwF-Bishramganj Phase 3 and AwF-Toleo Foundation).

We are delighted that these projects are going well and glad that we have supported them. Our sincere thanks go to our individual AwFdonors and to the ToleoFoundation for their financial support, which made our work in these projects possible.

We are always interested in new proposals for small projects for consideration by our Technical Advisory Group, which is chaired by AwF Director Geoff Allan. Details of the procedure for writing and submitting proposals can be found on the Proposals page of this website. The type of projects we consider can be judged from the nature of our current projects and from reading our About Us-Background page.
