Back in July 2014 we launched an AwF Network idea to further our promotion of women’s, family and community issues in our projects. We encouraged people (especially women) interested in becoming involved in the Network to engage.

We initially had about 30 people respond and we agreed to split them into 4 groups based on time zones. Meetings of the groups took place and all notes taken from these are available. (Click to download Notes)

The issues surrounding this subject are many and varied and very relevant to the work that AwF is engaged in and, whilst we are still at the beginning of the road, we feel it is important that we share what we have discussed to get input from any other people who are keen to work with us.

We are very happy to have such a range of talented and interested people who not only cover many areas of the world but also cover many sectors. Clearly there are different issues between developed and developing countries so it is important to ensure that we have as broad a base as possible.

We are also keen to ensure that we are not seen as competing with other groups – we are happy to share, collaborate and work with any groups who are treading this path. The Gender issues have over the years run ‘hot and cold’ and our aim is to build a strong, resilient and sustainable network which will be well funded and resourced. We believe this is best done in collaboration.

We look forward to your input.
