Update VEGA with AwF

Category:Updates

VEGA logo[1]Volunteers for Economic Growth Alliance (VEGA) manage programs all over the developing world. VEGA believe that increasing economic growth is the best way to help people lift themselves out of poverty and improve their quality of life.

Aquaculture without Frontiers (AwF) are the only specialist Aquaculture group within VEGA and we aim to engage with VEGA’s programs which are committed to serving women, youth, and others who are ready to be entrepreneurs or learn new business skills. AwF are working hard on their collaboration with VEGA and hope to see more activities as a result.

Recently two AwF volunteers Marty Riche and Pablo V Cisneros agreed to engage in VEGA Sponsored Training ‘A Successful Transition to 2 CFR 200/700’ which will assist VEGA members with the December 2014 changes to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). VEGA is sponsoring a 3-day customized workshop which will be held December 8 – 10, 2015 in Washington, DC.

The purpose of the workshop is to increase participants’ understanding of the rules and regulations articulated in 2 CFR 200/700;updates to USAID’s internal operating guidance in ADS 303; and changes in USAID’s standard and applicable provisions.

Marty and Pablo will also be able to network with VEGA staff and other members which will make AwF more familiar with them and vice versa.

The workshop will expand on new and/or revised tools and approaches for USAID and prime recipients to engage with local partners, provide further clarification of the use of Fixed Amount Awards (FAAs), clarify audit thresholds, discuss USAID’s revised merit review process, understand risk assessment elements and other assistance related topics.  The tailored training is being developed and delivered by Claro KC, a VEGA resource partner.

VEGA members will be provided the opportunity to offer insight and preferences on key issues/training topics via an online survey in late October. Information gathered will be used to customize the workshop to best meet member needs.

AwF had the opportunity to invite one participant for the training but from our keen USA group we had two and fortunately both have been accepted by VEGA. VEGA have requested AwF to submit two volunteer success stories for the cost of the training.

Marty and Pablo will be doing a report for us following the training which we will post on our website thus keeping you all informed.
