Aquaculture without Frontiers (AwF) Executive Director, Roy Palmer, announcing a new Board appointment said “We are absolutely thrilled that Mary Larkin, Executive Vice President of Diversified Communications, has agreed to join our Board of Directors.“

Mary joined Diversified in 1995, has been involved with the seafood industry since early 1996 and continues to oversee Seafood Expo North America in Boston and the world’s largest seafood event in Brussels – Seafood Expo Global.  She has held the role of Vice President since 2004 and was recently promoted to Executive Vice President of US operations.

“Mary has a massive role as Executive Vice President, overseeing Diversified Communications’ US operations as well as the international portfolio of seafood tradeshows and conferences, online reporting and the Integrative Healthcare portfolio. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the National Fisheries Institute and, more recently, on the Board for Seafood Industry Research Fund (SIRF).  Mary has recently joined the Board for the Center for Grieving Children in Portland, Maine, and you can read more about her at Linkedin.

Aquaculture without Frontiers is the seafood industry’s only global independent volunteer charity and Mary’s impressive credentials and work ethic will add enormous value to our industry knowledge and experience. Mary’s leadership in the growth of Diversified Communications and in the promotion of seafood should not be underestimated. Her understanding of all of the intricacies of communications, organisation and dealing with people from all countries will be invaluable in AwF’s future planning.

Mary joins John Forster, Cormac O’Sullivan, Gorjan Nikolik, Dave Conley and me on the AwF Board. There may be more developments and additions to be announced shortly as we strategically plan for the future”, said Roy.

AwF will be engaged in a number of events through to the end of year but has plans to have at least one face-to-face Board meeting in February. There will be an AwF General Meeting at American Aquaculture in Las Vegas and, of course, the AwF Session on Development, Welfare & Poverty Alleviation at the same event.

In the meantime AwF continues to look at expansion with talks and proposals in many directions. Exciting news from the UK should be expected by the end of the year; Korea is still being finalised and Mexico and other locations are being discussed.
