FLOODING ENDANGERS AN AwF PROJECT IN BANGLADESH

Sattya Roy has sent us many pictures of the flooding around one of our project sites (Kurigram District) in Bangladesh.......

During the severe monsoon weather of July/August 2007 many lives were lost, especially in China, and severe problems were caused in some rural areas of Bangladesh, India and Nepal.

The following pictures from one of our AwF-RDRS project sites vividly highlight some of the problems faced; the first four need no caption........

Photo # 5.  As the floods rose, project participants had been warned to increase the height of the pond bunds (banks), if possible, or to erect screens to prevent the loss of stocked fish from. This picture illustrates one of our project ponds thus protected. The last report from Sattya indicated that the floods were beginning to recede but were still bad.

Sattya has also sent us a recent quarterly progress report on the AwF-RDRS project, which has been uploaded onto our website separately.
